++HNAV++
What It Does
The ++HNAV++ widget creates a horizontal text navigation bar for the main sections of your site. A pipestem character ( | ) is used as a separator between sections, unless you indicate in your site's widget settings that you would like to use a HTML table to generate the widget.
The ++HNAV++ widget also highlights the section in which the user is currently located, and highlights the other section links when the cursor passes over them.
For example, if your "Laverne & Shirley" fan site has four main sections named after the show's main characters, the ++HNAV++ widget can be generated in one of two ways:
No table:

The Markup Results
The ++HNAV++ widget may be generated in one of two forms depending on your "Site Navigation" widget settings (see below).
- No table. The widget is an inline element and is not contained in any HTML tags. The only HTML tags it contains are the
<a>link tags. - Table. The widget is a block element contained in a
<table>tag. The width and cell padding of the table is controlled by the widget settings.

- Homepage
- Main section page
- Subsection index page
- Article page
Customizing This Widget
Users with webmaster or administrator accounts may customize this widget in the "Site Navigation" panel of the widget editor. To get there, click the "Widget Settings" link in the left-column menu of the Big Medium control panel. The following settings affect the ++HNAV++ widget:
- Include link to homepage in main navigation. This will put a link to the homepage in the navigation bar.
- Text for homepage link. This determines the word or phrase used for the homepage link in the navigation bar. This is only relevant if you have checked the option to include a homepage link in main navigation.
- Highlight color for active section. This determines the color used to highlight the section in which the user is currently located, as well as the rollover highlight when the cursor passes over section links. This color must be in hexadecimal format (click here for a list of hexadecimal codes for web-safe colors).
- "Button" padding. This determines the cell padding (the amount of space around the text links) for the text navigation bar.
- Use tables for horizontal text-based navigation. This will use
<table>tags to format the++HNAV++widget (otherwise,<span>tags and pipestem (|) characters are used to divide the navigation links). - Table width for horizontal text-based navigation. If you choose to use the table format for the
++HNAV++widget, this setting determines the width of the table. This may be a percentage or a straight number.
In addition, section editor settings determine whether individual main sections are included in the ++HNAV++ widget. For more information, check the section status help file.
Styles
The section links in the ++HNAV++ widget are displayed in the "Navigation Menu Links" style.
