Widget Tag
++MOREMAIN++
What It Does
On main section pages, the ++MOREMAIN++ widget displays a link to additional articles that have been assigned to the main section but which have been "pushed" off the page by more recent articles. It is a good practice to include either the ++MOREMAIN++ widget or the ++BROWSEMORE++ widget on all main section pages to help users find additional content in the main section.
Big Medium displays a fixed number of articles on the main section page (as determined by the "article counts" settings in the site's widget settings). When those articles have been displayed, Big Medium does not display any remaining articles on the main section page but instead creates archive pages with links to the older articles. When these "overflow" articles exist, the ++MOREMAIN++ widget displays a link from the main section page to the first archive page. (All of the archive pages are built using the subsection index template for the section.)
It's important to note, however, that the articles that show up on those article pages are only those articles have been assigned to the main section itself; articles that have been assigned to a subsection are instead displayed in the archive pages for that subsection.
The Markup Results
The ++MOREMAIN++ widget is an inline element contained in <a> tags. The text of the link is "Browse more articles in [SECTION NAME]".
Templates Using This Widget
You may use this widget only in main section templates.
Customizing This Widget
The ++MOREMAIN++ widget does not have any customization options. However, you can choose to add the link generated by the ++MOREMAIN++ to the ++BROWSEMORE++ widget, effectively combining the output of both into the ++BROWSEMORE++ widget output. To do this, go to the "Site Navigation" panel of the site's widget settings and choose the "On main section pages, add the MOREMAIN link to the top of BROWSEMORE" option.
Styles
The ++MOREMAIN++ widget is displayed in the default body text and link styles.
