The section editor allows users with administrator or webmaster privileges to create and edit sections and subsections for your website.
Like sections of a newspaper or chapters of a book, website sections allow you to organize the content of your site into topic areas that help your visitors quickly find the information they need. When you create articles with Big Medium, you assign each article to one or more sections of the site, and Big Medium automatically builds the article in that section.
The section editor is where you add and edit sections for your website. Here, users with webmaster or administrator accounts can:
To use the section editor, users with webmaster or administrator privileges can click "Section Editor" under "Templates" in the left-column menu of the Big Medium control panel.
Edit Homepage
Click the "Edit Homepage" link in the main page of the section editor to update the homepage template, metadata, announcement text or navigation images.
New Main Section
Click the "New Main Section" link in the main page of the section editor to create a new main section for your website. (If you would like to add a subsection to an existing main section, click the "New subsection" link in that section's panel of the section editor).
After you click the "New Main Section" link, Big Medium presents a fresh settings page for the new section.
Edit Main Section Order
Click this link to adjust the display order of the main sections on your website. This affects the order in which sections appear in navigation links generated by Big Medium. For more information, see the help page for reordering sections.
Section List
The main page of the section editor lists all of your site's sections and subsections. Each section is displayed within its own panel in the Big Medium control panel, along with its subsections. Each main section panel offers four options for editing that main section.
Subsections
Beyond organizing content into main content sections, many sites go a step further, dividing one or more main sections into subsections. The sports section of a news site, for example, might have subsections for various sports: football, baseball, basketball, etc. In this example, going to the sports section's main page would display the most recent articles from all of its subsections, while going to the football subsection would display all of the site's articles about football.
In the section editor, the panel for each main section includes a table listing all of the section's subsections, if any have been created. These subsection tables display the following information:
