CHOICES is a seminar on the importance of education for middle and high school students presented by the business community.

Locally, the CHOICES program is presented to freshman English students at Jacksonville High School, Illinois School for the Deaf, and ESP/Alternative Resource Center by Chamber member volunteers.

How does CHOICES work?

  • CHOICES is a two class-period interactive seminar designed to help students increase their career and life options through thoughtful academic decisions.
  • Students engage in role-plays on time & money management, and learn how decisions they make now will shape their future.
  • Students discover that they can achieve their goals by applying self-discipline.
  • CHOICES also acts as a power tool for building and sustaining effective school and business partnerships in local communities.

CHOICES teaches students to:

  • Become acquainted with the pressures, influences, expectations and environments affecting "Who I am".
  • Make thoughtful decisions about the future.
  • Learn about decisions and their consequences.
  • Explore time and money management.
  • Connect academic decisions to career & life consequences.
  • Increase options in an uncertain world.
  • Learn to think beyond myself.
  • Make a plan to take charge of my life.
  • Obtain the "Key to Success".
